Here at beef and whiskey dot com, we freely advocate a diet high in beef, along with all other sources of animal protein and fat -lamb, chicken, seafood, pork, etc. etc. Because, contrary to nutritional officialdom, who would have you believe the very foods that humans evolved on are somehow bad for you, we believe (ok, it’s really just me here, I believe…) that the human body needs fats and proteins, not carbs.
So, in short, meat is good, sugar and starch are bad, very very bad.
Which brings me to whiskey. Hmmm. What to say? I cannot sit here and argue that it’s good for you, but, as long as you don’t go overboard, hey, enjoy yourself.
And if you are a college student, by all means-go overboard! That’s what you’re there for! Just be aware that the hooch will not make you indestructible, as this guy found out:

(In some sick way, I almost admire this guy, hahhaa… you gotta be really feeling on top of the world to decide it’s a good idea to run out in traffic on a Monday afternoon wearing just a speedo hahaha… Gimme some of what he had, bartender! Well, maybe a bit less…)
Whiskey, and by whiskey, I mean all forms of alcohol, can be a fine part of your low carb diet. If you like beer, just be careful not to drink too much of it, it does have a lot of carbs. Try Guinness, it’s actually lower in carbs than your typical beer, and lower in alcohol too. And forget those low carb beers, I mean, what’sthe point of that? You either want a beer, or you don’t. Yuck.
If you don’t already, learn to enjoy spririts-scotch, bourbon, vodka, gin-they are practically zero carb. Wine is a good option too. Wine does have a few carbs per glass, but not enough to even worry about.
Yes, if you are still trying to lose weight, these choices will slow you down somewhat, but that would only matter if you are in a big hurry to lose weight, and you should never really be in a big hurry to lose weight. Just drop the sugars and starches and let your body take care of the rest.
And yes, if you drink too much, it will stall you out completely at some point. So, don’t do that.
If you are just starting out on a low-carb diet, you will soon discover that the sauce will hit you much faster and harder than it did before. I don’t know why this happens, I am sure there is a chemical processing body mechanics type explanation, but that ain’t my bailiwick, so just trust me on this. At any rate, you’ll find out for yourself soon enough.
And if you are one of those people who simply go overboard with the booze, and cannot control yourself to the point where it destroys your life and your relationships, well, then, quit reading this blog and go get some help. The sooner the better. You dont want to get to the point where it’s impossible to quit. That happened to my friend Harry. Harry drank every day, at lunch, dinner, after dinner, sometimes even first thing in the morning. By the time he reached his early fifties, he had been carrying on this way for 30 some-odd years. Then 9/11 happened. He was bad before that day, but afterwards-he was in a building next door to the towers and felt the impact of the first collapse-he became a true mess. A few years later, he’s no longer with us. Get help before you become a lost cause like my friend.
Harry, you bastard, you had better be saving a barstool for me up (down?) there.
Cheers!
